Arena Structures create exhibition space for BCSC at the Sage
When the British Council for Shopping Centres (BCSC) wanted to put on their annual conference at the Sage in Gateshead, Arena Structures were on hand to provide much needed temporary exhibition space.
The British Council of Shopping Centres was keen to stage its annual conference in a city dedicated to urban regeneration. Gateshead’s iconic venue and conference centre, the Sage, was the perfect location.
Event Production company Early Action Group worked alongside BCSC organisers to come up with the perfect solution for the venue to house the 3,500 delegates, which had conference space but also needed additional facilities to house the associated exhibition.
Kate Way, Project Manager for Early Action Group explained;
“We worked very much in partnership with BCSC to design the way in which this event would work. The solution we suggested was to bring in an Arena Structures TFS, which was robust enough to look like a permanent building for the event. The reaction from the community of Gateshead has been tremendous and people are amazed by the structure.”
The 5,500 square metre exhibition featured retailers and retail suppliers with stunning exhibition stands and unique feature areas designed by Early Action Group. The conference programme discussed the positive impact that the council’s members have on communities. Speakers included Lord Coe and Sir Bob Geldof.
“By using Arena Structures’ TFS, the BCSC was able to extend the possibilities that an exciting venue like the Sage, Gateshead, can offer“, said David Moynes, Arena Structures’ Project Manager. “The structure allows conference organisers to be ever more creative in their choice of venues, secure in the knowledge that a temporary facility can help them with any extra capacity they may need.”
