Arena Structures wins four more years at The Open

20 July 2007

Creating exclusive hospitality suites for sporting events has taken Arena Structures to some pretty challenging locations, none more-so than the 18th fairway at this year's Open Championship at Carnoustie which was overlooked by a double decker hospitality suite spanning the Barry Burn.

Whilst the world's leading golfers battled each other and the elements over four days for one of golf’s most prized titles, VIP guests were unaware that they were standing above a burn carrying away the weekend’s abundant supply of rainwater!

Ron Smith, Arena Structure's Projects Director, managed the teams from Arena Structures and Arena Scaffolding who completed the complex calculations and precise installation of all the structures on the course.

The R&A has awarded Arena Structures an extension to the existing contract to supply The Open Championship with structures up to and including 2011.

Arena Structures has a unique track record at UK golfing tournaments and this year alone will have supplied over 500,000 square metres of structures to the major UK golf events, from Wentworth to Loch Lomond to Celtic Manor, by the end of October this year.

Ron Smith said:
“We are delighted to be able to continue our relationship with The R&A and look forward to offering the highest standard of service at The Open Championship over the coming years.”
