Arena Group Drive forwards with BMW

01 June 2007

The Arena Group opened a busy round of summer golf tournaments this May when they supplied structures and site scaffolding to the PGA’s BMW championship at Wentworth. This is the first of sixteen major golf tournaments that will see Arena Structures supplying an incredible 576,000m² of structures to between now and the end of October.

With five of the World’s top ten players competing for the prestigious prize, the golf was of the highest standard over the four days, but it was outsider Hanson who won sank a 25 foot birdie to win a playoff with Justin Rose.

Away from the fairways, hospitality is central to the success of any commercial golf event, and the PGA has entrusted Arena Structures to supply their structures for many events over recent years.

Main Event met Arena Structures’ Managing Director Grahame Muir in the BMW Championship sponsors guests hospitality; a luxurious two storey structure over-looking the 18th green. This facility was finished to the highest of standards, as Grahame Muir explained:

“Working with clients such as the PGA and their sponsors we have evolved our business to match their requirements. We now do so much more than supply the structure, working with them to create an environment that meets the aspirations of the sponsors and guests. So it is now increasingly common that we will manage all elements of the facility to ensure every last detail is to the highest of standards.”

Since the management buyout of the Arena Group earlier this year the first major area of investment was in expanding the stock and services offered by Arena Structures. Grahame Muir said:
“On all of the golf events there is a requirement for professionally built scaffolding, with the appropriate engineering calculations to ensure effective health and safety. The structures require a scaffolding substructure to provide a level, stable base and we also provide scaffolding for scoreboards and media towers around the course.”
